61st Annual 8th Grade Boys Catholic Basketball Tournament - Information
The 61st Annual 8th Grade Boys Catholic Championship Basketball Tournament Sponsored by the Morton Knights of Columbus and the Village of Morton will be held on January 9th & 10th, 2026 at Blessed Sacrament School in Morton, IL.
The 2026 tournament field includes the following schools:
• Blessed Sacrament School
• St. Jude - Peoria
• St. Thomas - Peoria Heights
• St. Vincent - Peoria
• St. Philomena - Peoria
• Costa Catholic - Galesburg
• Immaculate Conception - Monmouth
• St. Patrick's - Washington
Additional information:
• All games will be live streamed on the Blessed Sacrament YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@blessedsacramentathletics)
• Every team is guaranteed 3 games in the traditional tournament format (winners and consolation brackets).
• The TOP team in the bracket is the HOME team and should wear white (light) color uniform.
• Individual Medals for the Tournament, Second, Third and Consolation Champions.
• Traveling trophy for the Tournament Champion (to reside for one year at your school).
• We will seed the tournament. I will plan to have the brackets to you by Monday, January 5th, 2026.
• Every 8th grade basketball player will receive a FREE tournament tee-shirt (compliments of the Morton Knights of Columbus)
• Our Cheer Coach (Tami Meister) is planning a fun cheer event for Saturday afternoon. She will work directly with your Cheer Coaches on the details.
• WEATHER - If you do not receive any notice from BSS, the games will be played as scheduled. Note: BSS guidelines for the tournament are that if the roads are open (i.e. Interstate 74), the tournament will be played. If the roads are closed (i.e. Interstate 74), the tournament will be cancelled. However, if any team on any day does not feel that the roads are safe and are not comfortable traveling, just call the Blessed Sacrament Athletic Director ASAP to advise of your decision NOT to travel.
• Concessions - we plan to have a complete concession stand with meals available.
